Power. How do we not run out of it? I’m not talking about stored mechanical energy. I’m talking about the metaphysical energy that drives us on the daily. How do we keep our mental energy tanks full? How do we manage to get all the things done in a day that we need to do?
Lately I’ve had all the physical energy I need, that is to play soccer and lift weights, but I’ve been struggling with my mental energy. It seems like I’m only able to buckle down and do 1 or 2 tedious things and then my mind shuts off. Unfortunately life has a lot more than 1 or 2 tedious things to throw at you every day.
Luckily enough, in my 22 years of sage wisdom I’ve found a “hack” for securing some of that vital mental energy. Creative energy; this kind of energy is almost limitless. If you can tap into creative energy it will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotion. The problem is how do you get on this ride? How do you activate your creative energy to use for productivity?
How do we transform tedious activities into activities that spark our creativity? This is the crux of the problem. Solving it requires innovation and creativity. Yes you need creativity, to get more creativity, it’s not exactly science. #liberalarts. One way people have tried to “hack” their brains is through gamification. This brillant video explains how gamification can literally save your life. I don’t profess to have all the answers. Sometimes I don’t even know how to get myself to do certain things. All I know is that I balance the pleasure and the work. Need to post process 30 photos in the next few hours? Take a break halfway through and make a ridiculous photoshop.
You just need to figure out how to solve this riddle.
